Any of you online players may want to take a look at the list of features that might make its way onto Battle.net 2.0. This information was classified by Blizzard. The article itself was taken and written by IGN. Battle.net 2.0 FeaturesDiablo III community web site DIII.net has compiled a list of reportedly confirmed features that will appear in Blizzard's new and improved multiplayer service, Battle.net 2.0. The site pulled information out of the 2008 Leipzig Games Convention, official Blizzard web sites, and more. The list of features is posted below: - Automatic/Anonymous Matchmaking Support
- Excellent Ping Support
- Avatar/Icons to represent yourself
- Achievements
- In-Game Voice Chat
- Hack-Free Security
- Clan Support
- Automated Tournaments
- Friends/Ignore Lists
- eSport Support
IGN has contacted Blizzard to see if the aforementioned list is accurate, but have not received confirmation yet. Be reminded that these features are not yet officially confirmed from Blizzard so it is highly possible we won't see every feature listed onto Battle.net; more features may be added and tweaked. Bashiok has made an announcement regarding the keys of Diablo 3; keys will now be used for specific locks instead of random locks. Here is what he had to say: Bashiok said:Having keys that are dropped for specific uses, that have more story and questing elements tied to them are definitely possible. In a general 'designery' way Leoric's crown was essentially a key used to unlock the boss fight in the BlizzCon demo. So I don't think it's out of the question to then have a literal key be used for more quest-centric chest unlocking purposes.
That's of course completely separate from the generic dropped keys and their ability to open randomly spawned 'locked' chests. We don't currently have keys and locked chests, but... we're not completely opposed to them either.
Something I posted about a long time ago, which were just ideas being thrown around internally, is the idea of having multiple tiers of chests with subsequently lower spawn rates, and subsequently increased chances for dropping better and better items. At that point keys sort of become this unnecessary burden, because you already had the amazing luck of having the rarest chest type in the game spawn, it's probably not all that cool to then also say "Now find a key for it!"
